Lucy Barnes

Pre-School Leader

Both of my children attended the Pre-School when they were little. I started out as a member of the committee, then joined the staff team in 2010. In 2012 I gained my Level 3 Diploma and took on the role of Deputy Leader. I took over as Pre-School Leader in September 2018 and am also Room Leader of the Caterpillar Room. Working at the Pre-School is very rewarding. I enjoy helping the children become independent learners, ready for the next steps of their journey.

Chloe Murray - Play Assistant.

I joined the Butterfly Room in Ickleford Pre-School in 2016. Since then I have studied for my Level 2 Certificate, which I was awarded in June 2018. I love my role and enjoy helping the children grow and develop as individuals.

Toni Kempster-Mist - Play Assistant

I started at Ickleford Pre-School in March 2015 and achieved my Level 2 Certificate in November 2016. You can find me with our youngest children in the Caterpillar Room, where I like to do arts and crafts and enjoy messy play.

Sue Kelland - Play Assistant

I have worked or volunteered in schools since 2000. This was initially as a Lunchtime Supervisor, where I caught the bug of working with children. I gained my Level 2 qualification working as a teaching assistant in the reception class at a local Primary School. I joined the Caterpillar Room at Ickleford Pre-School in 2016. I find working with children to be the most rewarding thing. To see children confidently grow ready for their next stage in life, can’t be beaten.

Kelly Gear - Play Assistant

I joined Ickleford Preschool in May 2018 and I am looking forward to starting my Level 3 qualification in September. Within the Pre-School I particularly enjoy working in the craft area due to having a creative background.

Caroline Bradshaw - Play Assistant

I joined the team at Ickleford just before the May half term and so far I am loving it! I have two girls of my own at home and have also been childminding for the past year. I am looking forward to starting my Level 3 qualification in September. My favourite area at Pre-School is the craft and messy play!

Stephanie Woodhead - Pre-School Secretary

I have been in administrative roles for many years and it is work that I have always enjoyed.  Having initially joined the Pre-School as a Play Assistant in 2008, I have now been the secretary since 2010. I am the first point of contact for any administrative enquiries.

What Our Families are Saying

“This is a lovely setting. My shy daughter has blossomed into a sociable little girl, ready for school.

“My little boy started when he just turned two years old having just moved into the village. We were made to feel so welcome with his key worker helping him to settle quickly. He runs into pre-school now every morning.”

“My son really looks forward to going to pre-school. I like the way that the staff re-iterate the rules that we have at home such as to play with kind hands and to have good manners at the table when eating. He has a great friendship with all of the staff and other pre-schoolers and he talks about them at home all of the time!”
