We are open five days a week, with a mixture of morning and afternoon sessions, and a lunch club that runs every day. Up to 23 hours of free childcare is available, as part of the Government’s initiative to support parents.
At the heart of the community
The Pre-School is based at Ickleford Village Hall, in the heart of our small and friendly village. It has been offering early education to children for more than 25 years and is a key part of the community. In addition to children from Ickleford, the Pre-School is attended by children from Hitchin and the surrounding areas, including Letchworth, Stotfold, Fairfield Park, Shefford, and Pirton.
As a pack away setting, we are not restricted to any particular layout for our play areas. The Pre-School is generally set up in the same way each day to provide continuity and familiarity. However, we are able to adapt our environment to suit any occasion, for example a special event or visitor.
Philosophy & Mission
How we operate
We are a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, registered with Ofsted. We operate as a registered charity run by a committee made up of parents and other members of the community.
What Our Families are Saying
“This is a lovely setting. My shy daughter has blossomed into a sociable little girl, ready for school.
“My little boy started when he just turned two years old having just moved into the village. We were made to feel so welcome with his key worker helping him to settle quickly. He runs into pre-school now every morning.”
“My son really looks forward to going to pre-school. I like the way that the staff re-iterate the rules that we have at home such as to play with kind hands and to have good manners at the table when eating. He has a great friendship with all of the staff and other pre-schoolers and he talks about them at home all of the time!”
